History of Darus Salam Jamee Masjid
Darus Salam Jamee Masjid is situated in a populated and pleasant area near the Birshreshtha Mostafa Kamal Bus Terminal at South Poura Charjangla, Ward 9 of Bhola Municipality, Bhola District. The mosque was established here in 1964 CE, 1368 AH and 1371 in the Bengali calendar.
The mosque was previously located at the entrance to the ancestral home of the late Mutawalli Kamal Uddin Ahmad Mostafa Mia at Chatlia Bazar, Niamatpur village, Daulatkhan, Bhola. After river erosion, members of the household brought the mosque building from its earlier location to this area. With the cooperation, financial assistance and goodwill of local people, the mosque was established on land donated by members of the family. The mosque had existed at the former location for approximately 100 years, and it has also been established in the present area for more than 50 years.
Since its establishment, development work and arrangements for worship have continued despite various difficulties. The mosque building covers 1,800 square feet on a 3,000-square-foot plot and has foundations for four storeys; construction has been completed up to the second floor. As the number of worshippers continues to increase, people fill the front veranda and courtyard and also use the roof. Attendance naturally rises during Ramadan, and worshippers come from distant places to hear Quranic commentary before Friday prayers.
By the mercy of Allah, the mosque has been managed smoothly and effectively by its Mutawalli and a capable management council. The council's 19-member Executive Committee, 13-member Advisory Body and 81 Executive Members work selflessly for the pleasure of Allah and contribute financially according to their means. The respected Khatib, Imam, Muezzin and other personnel also serve sincerely in the cause of Allah.
Respected worshippers, bus owners, workers, passengers, businesspeople and residents from all walks of life around the bus terminal are sincere and devoted supporters of this mosque.
